London-based brand strategy and design studio Studio Blackburn took on the rebranding of the design and manufacturing studio, resulting in an identity that expresses the very essence of their brand.
The brief gave Studio Blackburn plenty of creative freedom, but emphasised the importance of maintaining one crucial aspect: to create a 'clean, simple, and familiar brand perception, but that something is not quite right.'
“Ventura Foreman is a studio rooted in the local culture of Woolwich, London, UK. We decided to celebrate and champion the locality, including the studio's location within the identity.”
This sense of 'a little bit wrong' permeated every aspect of the project, from the typographic system for the logo to the method of attaching a label. It even influenced the selection of the typeface designed by Dinamo, ABC Marfa Medium, which was envisioned as a robust, utilitarian typeface for a high-speed era with no time to lose. The typeface possesses subtle quirks that felt wrong—yet strangely right—for Ventura Foreman.
