As a collaborative EV venture between Geely and Baidu, JIDU signifies the merging of automotive and AI expertise. Geely, leading car manufacturer with ownership of brands such as Volvo, Polestar, Geely Auto, and Lotus, partners with Baidu, a leading AI company specialising in internet search and online marketing solutions. JIDU’s debut offering, unveiled in mid-2022, sets a new benchmark thanks to its level 4 autonomy. It marks a milestone in automotive history as the highest level of autonomy ever achieved in a car.
“Our task was to develop a visual identity that embodies the ambitions of this new venture, incorporating the intelligence of machine learning and the vivid urban landscapes of the Chinese metropolis.”
Throughout Studio Oker's explorations, a consistent element emerged - the pixel. Recognising the unique nature of a tech company venturing into the automotive industry, the studio found it essential to underscore the significance of technology in the car. The pixel reflects a digital-first approach and symbolises data as the foundation of autonomy. It stands out with its asymmetric composition and bold aesthetics when coupled with a simplified geometric letter J.
